There are quite a handful of black tea varieties. Some popular kinds are: Earl Grey, Keemun, Orange Pekoe, and CeyLon.But it’s not good just to know the name. Here is a little description for each type of black tea varieties to give you some options.

Assam

The high-quality Assam is sometimes called Tippy Assam. The black tea leaves usually have yellow tips. When brewing, the tea appears somewhat red. It tastes great with or without milk. This tea is often served in the morning.

Yunnan

This tea is originated from Yunnan province in China. When brewing, it gives clear abd yellow tea. It has a pleasant fragrance and sweet flavor.

Ceylon

High grown Ceylon tea is viewed as high-quality. When brewing, the tea has pale yellow color. This tea makes great ice tea. It can served either with milk or lemon. This tea tastes great anytime during the day.


Keemum

This tea is viewed as one of the high-valued tea in China. This tea can be served with milk. It has a rich but delicate flavor. This tea can best served in the evening.

Darjeeling

This tea often contains large leaves. It has rich flavor with a touch of fruitiness. It can be served with milk or lemon.

Rose Pouchong

This can be viewed as a scented tea. During processing, the leaves are covered with rose petals or blossoms. This tea is best served in the afternoon. It tastes great with or without milk. The tea has rich flavor with delicate rose fragrance.

China Caravan

This tea is a blend between different Keemum black tea. It can be served with lemon. It’s best served in the afternoon.

Early Grey

This tea is a mixture of Darjeeling black tea and Chinese teas. This tea is best served in the afternoon. It still tastes great with and without milk. This tea has a delicate flavor and pleasant fragrance.
