Valentine is not only for adults, it’s also for children. Children also want to celebrate love, don’t they? They just don’t celebrate it like their parents do. If you are having many plans on this day with the love of your life, why not have a valentine tea party for the children. The children will have fun and will not bother you and your spouse on this special day.

This theme for a tea party is suitable for boys and girl. What is the color of the valentine? …Pink or red. Either of these colors can be the color theme. But for the children, pink is probably more appropriate because it’s lighter and more relaxed. Red serves better in adult party because it symbols fire and passion.

Decorations

Now keep in mind is that our theme color is pink, thus everything should be different kind of pink. If you have a back yard, you can set up a round table their. If you don’t, you can set up the table near a window. Let the sunlight into the room. It will be great for the party. For the table cloth, if you can, you can buy any pink table cloth at the dollar stores. If they have plain pink without any design, that’s great.

You want to decorate the table with the foods and flowers. The designs make the table look a little confusing. If you can’t find a plain tablecloth, you can buy any pink tablecloth they have.
When there isn’t any option, it’s quite difficult to be picky. If that’s the situation, at least the table cloth is pink, which is our theme color.

Red roses are very popular in valentine. So you can place a vase with 1 red rose or a dozen of red rose on the table. This depends on the size of the table, if it’s small, 1 rose is perfect. If you want, you can let your children help with the decoration. They can cut out hearts from the pink constructions paper. Small hearts can be glue to a small string then tape into each of the chair. Big heart can be glue to the string in tape in on the door way.

The menu

Since you are working with construction paper you may as well make the menu. Your children can do this if they are allowed to use the scissor.

First, you fold the construction paper in half. Draw a heart in the front. Cut along the line but remember, don’t cut the heart all the way. We want the heart to open up like a card. Use a stick, dip it into liquid glue and draw a heart in the front. Sprinkle red glitters on the page. Voila, you have a pink menu with a red heart in the front.

Let your children decorate the rest. You can tell them what you will serve in the party and help them write these foods into the menu. Use red marker if it’s available. If you are planning this party before hand, you can prepare the invitations the same way you did with the menu, but smaller.

The costumes: Valentine tea party is a fun but a bit formal tea party. Girls can wear knee-length dress and boys can wear white shirts and pants. You want the children to act a bit mature so these outfits serve that purpose right.

Foods and Drink

The selection of foods in this party is diverse. You can choose to make any food you want as long as they are not so messy to eat. But if you are having a hard time putting together a menu, here are some suggestions.

You can buy white or whole wheat bread, a strawberry cream cheese package and a heart shape cookie cutter. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto the bread. Make it into a cream cheese sandwich. Use the cookie cutter to make heart shape sandwiches. If your children don’t like the edge, trim it before cutting. Place the sandwiches nicely onto a large plate. You can decorate with whole or slices of strawberries. You can even add some raspberries if you like.

Any fruit that’s pink or red is perfect. For dessert, you can serve the children strawberries ice cream or red Jell-O. There is Turkey Hill tea ice cream now, so you can serve the children this if you want.
You can buy some strawberry pudding or vanilla pudding. With vanilla pudding, you can add some pink food color and then churn it. Place them in a big bowl so the children can scoop them as they like. Since this is a Valentine tea party, you must have a tea set on the table. If you don’t want the children to drink tea due to caffeine, you can replace it with raspberry juices. Use the color that looks like tea like red, yellow, or orange. If the children like some real sweet tea you can buy it at Walt greens or Wal-Mart. The tea is now available in one gallon.

Activities

The Valentine tea party is fun so let’s the children play any game that they want. However, since it’s still a tea party, the games shouldn’t be so messy and loud. Several suggestions would be reading stories, watching movie, or ball dancing.

You can buy the soundtracks from Walt Disney for movies like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or Mermaid for the children to sing and dance along. Since these movies are about love, they are very appropriate for the Valentine tea party.
